Hollywood stars calling the shots in North WalesOverseen rapid rise up the divisionsRed Dragons still lacking permanent training baseWHAT HAPPENED?
The Red Dragons have been moving along nicely since seeing a couple of Hollywood superstars complete their takeover of the club back in 2021. The Welsh outfit are back in the Football League and taking aim at back-to-back promotions. There has been considerable investment on and off the field, allowing the likes of Mullin to arrive at SToK Racecourse and plans for a new stand to be drawn up, but Phil Parkinson’s side do not have their own training base.

Mullin has said in his autobiography of how resolving that issue will make life even easier for the most ambitious of teams to progress as a collective: “These days we train at Colliers Park, the National Football Development Centre of the Football Association of Wales, ten minutes down the road from the Racecourse. Other times we use Carden Park, a leisure complex about 15 miles away. They’re both brilliant, but the fact that everything – training pitch, gym, restaurant – isn’t in one place still isn’t ideal. It means more travelling and constant changes of clothes and gear – not a big deal in the big scheme of things but something any professional football club would be keen to iron out. When we have our own dedicated training facility – these things don’t happen overnight – it will be another big step forward.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Reynolds and McElhenney are doing all they can to make life as comfortable as possible for Wrexham’s players, coaches and supporters, with big money being pumped into the pursuit of ultimate targets – which include reaching the Premier League.

Training issues do not appear to be holding Wrexham back at present, with Parkinson guiding his side to second place in the League Two table. They are also into the last-32 of the EFL Trophy and third round of the FA Cup, with Mullin taking his tally of goals for the club to 88 in 113 appearances along the way.
